Ratemeter and timer software
LabVIEW®-based computer program for microiontophoresis
This LabView® (National Instruments)-based software program is specifically designed to control a five-channel iontophoresis pump in a pre-programmed fashion. An actual experiment with excitatory amino acids is illustrated in the figure below as it appears on the computer's screen. Responses of a neuron to the iontophoretically applied amino acids are shown on the upper ratemeter recording. Iontophoresis currents were also recorded and shown on the lower chartrecorder. Current traces, as well as their respective timer panels, are color-coded for easy identification. Each iontophoresis channel is programmed individually allowing complex patterns of iontophoresis. As explained on our Experimental Design page, this program executes complex microiontophoresis experiments in conjunction with instrument control/data acqusition boards such as the PC1200 plug-in board of National Instruments.
