History

Kation Scientific was founded by Denis Budai and Kathy Kovacs in 1996 in Novato, California. Both of the founders hold a Ph.D. degree in neuroscience, and, in the case of Denis, a twenty year-long experience in electrophysiology. Kation Scientific set sails when Denis introduced his unique spark-etching technique to tailor 7 micrometer thick carbon fibers to the necessary length and shape for extracellular microelectrodes.

Our operation has since moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul region of Minnesota, where Denis is in charge of the production line as well as of the research and development activities. Kathy, as general manager, takes care of the administrative tasks and business relations. The manufacture of products is supported by one engineer and two highly trained technicians.

In 2004, we set up a European distributor, the Kation Europe Bt. It simplifies ordering procedures and speeds up deliveries in countries of the European Union and in neighbouring countries.
Since its foundation Kation Scientific has grown into a solid, dependable small business with robust growth and ever increasing sales figures. We sell our products in many countries on 5 continents with great customer satisfaction. See `Our customers` page.
